Pacitan, E Java (ANTARA News) – Indonesia`s textile and textile product exports in the first seven months of 2008 rose 6.17 percent to US$6.06 billion from US$5.71 billion in the same period last year, an Industry Ministry official said.

Textile and textile product exports contributed 22.38 percent of the country`s non-oil/non-gas exports and 14.45 percent of industrial product exports over the period, the ministry`s director of industrial and mining product exports, Hartojo Agus Tjahjono said here on Friday. (more…)

JAKARTA, July 15, 2008 – Indonesia’s strong commitment to reforms has improved policies and boosted trade performance, says a new World Bank database and ranking tool. World Trade Indicators 2008 – Benchmarking Policy and Performance, released today, shows that Indonesian trade restrictiveness was measured at 4.5 percent in 2006, lower than the East Asia and Pacific average of 4.9 percent and far lower than the middle-income country average of 8.7 percent. Korean Submarines type 209 and CN 235 of Indonesia

South Korea is nearing a $1-billion deal with Indonesia to trade two of its 1,300-ton attack submarines and related technology for eight Indonesian-built advanced maritime patrol aircraft, a military source said Monday.

Arms procurement officials from the two nations, which forged a “strategic partnership” in December 2006, will meet next week in Indonesia to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the proposed deal, the source said. (more…)

PT SCM to export Kanzen to Vietnam

JAKARTA (JP): PT Semesta Citra Motorindo (SCM), the producer of Kanzen motorcycles, plans to export part of its engine production to Vietnam.

SCM chief commissioner Rini M.S. Soewandi said last week that Vietnamese buyers were committed to buying about 1,000 Kanzen motorcycle engines worth US$150,000 per month. (more…)

Jakarta, July 25 – Indonesia’s largest listed plantation company, PT Astra Agro Lestari Tbk, said on Friday its first-half net profit rose 134 percent from a year ago, supported by strong palm oil sales.

The firm, controlled by Indonesia’s top automotive distributor, PT Astra International Tbk, had previously reported a 20 percent increase in its crude palm oil (CPO) sales volume in the first half, paired with 58.9 percent rise in the average CPO price. (more…)
