Indonesian firm PT Sarindo Nusa Pratama on Monday launched its mobile phone brand D-One and three new mobile phone devices to take on the dominant players in the country.

The three new models are DG 518, SG 368 and DM 299.

“Designed in Indonesia and produced in China, we expect D-One to win two percent of Indonesia’s mobile phone sales this year,” Sarindo sales and marketing director Sung Khiun said in a press conference.

The phones are made in China as the country has developed its mobile phone technology and infrastructure more than Indonesia, he added.
The production costs are also low in China thanks to the Chinese government incentive to labor intensive firms, he said.

Therefore, the prices of D-One mobile phones were less expensive than those of the main players such as Nokia, Sonyericsson, Motorola and Samsung, Sung added.

For example, the DM 299, which will be sold at Rp 1.4 million (US150), featured an MP3 player, a video recorder and player, a VGA camera, an external memory card, and speaker phone, he said.

“More than that, it’s a dual-mode GSM and CDMA mobile phone. So you don’t have to buy one GSM mobile phone and one CDMA handset,” he said.

Meanwhile, the better DG 518 offered two GSM card slots, a sliding and mirror phone, a 1.3 megapixel camera, an MP3 player, a video player and recorder, a bluetooth, black listed mobile phone numbers and short message service (SMS), and an external memory card.

The duo GSM DG 518 will be offered to the public at Rp 1.7 million.

The stylish touch screen DG 368, which could immediately grab public attention, comes in four stylish colors: light green, orange, brown coffee and silver, to be only sold at Rp 1.4
million.

The DG 368 also features a 1.3 megapixel camera, a bluetooth, a FM radio, a video recorder and player, and an external memory card.

Sarindo claimed it had 30 service centers across the country. (***)
